Sonali Bank's Ruma branch manager rescued

The manager of Sonali Bank, who were abducted by separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), has been rescued in Bandarban through the mediation of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Nizam Uddin, manager of Bandarban's Ruma branch, was rescued around 7:25 pm on Thursday, said Khandaker Al Moin, director of Legal and Media Wing of the RAB.
Nizam's wife Nazmul Nahar, a teacher of Bandarban Cantonment Public School and College, said armed separatist group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) demanded Tk 15 lakh from his family as ransom.

Earlier, the separatist group kidnapped the bank manager during Taraweeh prayers on April 2 and looted Tk 1.5 crore from Ruma branch.

They also carried out robberies at Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank branches in Thanchi upazila of the district on Wednesday.
