An absconding accused of a gangrape case at Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district has been arrested by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-5) from Natore district.
Accused Md Mamun Ali, 25, was arrested from Kanaikhali Sheikh Russel Mini Stadium area in Natore town at about 1:45am on Friday.
Mamun is the son of Md Barek Hossain, of Tejndrapur (Mollapara) area under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district.
In a press release, RAB-5 informed it on Friday (April 5).
The press release states that on February 10 this year, a child who reads in Class V went to one Md Ejazul Huq's corn field to cut grass for her goats. At that time, one Saddam Hossain was also cutting grass. Just at that time, Saddam Hossain forcibly grabbed the child and raped her there. After a while, Md Mamun Hossain saw it. Then Mamun and Saddam, in connivance with each other, raped the child forcibly several times. Later, being the plaintiff, the victim's mother filed a rape case with Godagari Model Police Station in Rajshahi district. Following the registering of the case, the two accused went into hiding.
Then the information officer of the case forwarded the matter to RAB-5 to arrest the accused. Later, RABH-5 launched an investigation into the matter.
Later, RAB-5, Natore Camp and CPSC arrested Md Mamun Ali after Thursday midnight. He was handed over to Godagari Police Station.
