Lightning strikes kill 3 in Jhalakathi

Two women and a child were killed in separate lightning strikes at Kathalia and Sadar upazilas in Jhalakathi district on Sunday morning. 

The deceased were identified as Helena Begam, 40, a resident of Uttartal Gasia village under Kathalia upazila, Minara Begam, 35, of Sekharhat village, and Mahia Akter Isana, 11, of Panabalia village under Sadar upazila. 

According to locals, thunderbolts struck on them while they went to field to bring cattle at around 10:00 am during rain. They were injured critically. 

Local people rescued them and took to hospitals where doctors declared the trio dead. 
Jhalakathi Police Superintendent confirmed the matter.
