Swechchhasebak League leader attack police station to snatch away accused

Bogura's Shahjahanpur Swechchhasebak League general secretary UP chairman Nuruzzaman Nuru alongwith his associates on Saturday night entered Shajahanpur Police Station in a bid to snatched away a drug case accused.

Five police members of the police station were injured during the attack incident.

Failing to snatch away the accused, they took position in Majhirapara area for attack on the police station again. Then police arrested Nuru and eight others from the scene.
Two foreign guns and three bottles of Phesedyl syrup were recovered during raids at the houses of Nuru and another one at night.

Confirming the matter on Sunday morning, the police station OC Shahidul Islam said a procedure to file a case against the attackers and to produce them in the court are under process.

Injured police personnel are undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to the police quoting locals, around 9pm on Saturday, Shajahanpur police arrested Aria Union Swechchhasebak League general secretary Mithun, who is an accused in several murder cases, with two Barmis machetes and some lethal weapons. It made the followers of Mithun enraged.

Around 10pm, a group of 40-50 people, led by UP chairman Nuruzzaman Nuru, riding on 20-22 motorcycles came to the police station to snatch away Mithun.

Nuru is also an accused in at least 10 cases, including murder, drug case, police said.
