Two killed as autorickshaw overturns in Patuakhali

Two people were killed and four others injured as a CNG-run autorickshaw overturned into a ditch at Kolapara upazila in Patuakhali district on Saturday.

The accident took place around 7.30am on the Dhaka-Kuakata highway at Bishkani area in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Afjal Hossain, 60, a resident of Baroitola area, and Jakaria, 23, of Charpara area of Barguna district.

According to locals, a CNG-run autorickshaw with five passengers were heading towards Kolapara from Amtoli. On the way, its driver lost control over steering of the vehicle and overturned into a ditch, leaving two dead on the spot and four others injured.

Kolapara Police Station officer-in-charge Ali Ahmmad said being informed, police rescued the injured and sent them to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
They have also recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to Patuakhali Hospital morgue for autopsy and legal action were underway in this regard, added the OC.
