The authorities have suspended the ban on traveling to Ruma in Bandarban.

The instruction was given in a notification signed by Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Didarul Alam on Friday.

Earlier, on April 9, the Ruma Upazila administration of Bandarban issued a letter with four instructions for tourists to travel to Ruma Upazila in Bandarban.
The letter states that hotel rooms in the upazila cannot be rented to tourists. Tourists are not allowed to book or visit any spots in the upazila until the joint operation is over.

It also states that no jeep can be taken to any tourist places and tourists should not be taken to anywhere even by waterways.

The ban has been lifted now.

Regarding tourist travel, Bandarban Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shah Mojahid Uddin told the media on Friday that there is no bar on tourist travel. Tourists can come to Bandarban from any district of the country.

Meanwhile, although there is no bar on the travel of tourists in the district, those concerned have insisted on traveling to the tourist spots following the rules of law enforcement and local administration in the areas where the anti-terror operation of the joint forces is going on.

Earlier, on April 3, Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) members attacked Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank in Bandarban's Thanchi upazila around 12:30pm and looted Tk 15 lakh from Sonali Bank and Tk 2.45lakh from Krishi Bank.

They looted 14 weapons and ammunition from the police stationed in the bank and the Ansar members in the barracks.

Nine cases were filed with Ruma and Thanchi police stations over this incident. Later, 58 people, including 19 women, have been arrested and sent to the court in the operation of the joint forces.
