The weather is now gentler and colder, although winter officially bid goodbye a couple of weeks ago. It is neither extremely hot nor cold, making it additionally comforting for tourists to spend the Eid holidays smoothly.
During the carnival, various points of the worlds longest sea beach, Coxs Bazar Sea Beach, witnessed a large number of tourists.
Visiting Kolatoli Point, Sugandha Point, and Laboni Point, this correspondent found that every inch of these parts of the beach was thronged with holidaymakers.
Spending time with fervor and joy, they are playing on the beach sands, bathing in the beach water, and roaming to and fro.
Some lay their bodies on beds placed on the beach sides in exchange for a charge on an hourly basis.
"Thousands of people visit Coxs Bazar sea beach during the Eid holidays. Its a common scenario there. Im happy to spend this Eid too at the worlds longest sea beach," said Reaz Uddin, Judicial Magistrate, Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Habiganj.
Reaz said he tries to visit Coxs Bazar sea beach during every Eid holiday and never gets bored of going to the same place again and again.
"The waves of the sea, sounds of water, and the vastness of the beautiful creation of the Creator pacify my mind," Reaz said, heaving a sigh of relief.
"This is the first time I have come to Coxs Bazar to spend my holidays with my family," said Mizanur Rahman, who came from Comilla, adding, "I used to visit relatives houses these days, but this time it feels different."
Around 500 hotels and motels are also brimming with tens of thousands of tourists.
Owners of residential facilities are in trouble accommodating all holidaymakers. Hence, many rushed to city hotels to spend nights.
Traders, however, are happy with the turnout.
It is learned that tourists booked hotel and motel rooms in advance since the day before Eid-ul-Fitr held on April 11.
Talking to The Daily Observer, hotel owners said they are happy to earn a handsome amount of money as the number of tourists staying there is considerably high.
"The post-pandemic hotel and motel businesses were barren as economic crisis gripped countrymen. But fortunately, this year we have reportedly received a large number of tourists, outnumbering the past few years," said Talking to The Daily Observer on Sunday night, Hotel Motel Guest House Owners Association President Abul Kashem Sikder said the number of tourists visiting the beach town at present is estimated to be over one lakh.
There are no vacant rooms in more than 500 hotels and motels near Coxs Bazar beach. Many people are running towards the city after failing to find hotel rooms, Abul Kashem said.
However, he said the number of tourists had been declining since Sunday night as the government holidays were coming to an end.
Meanwhile, law enforcers said they have taken proper security measures to ensure that tourists can enjoy their time without facing any embarrassing situations.
"Comprehensive security measures have been taken to ensure the safety and prevent harassment of arriving tourists. Officers are constantly working to make the tourists visit smooth," said Apple Mahmud, Additional DIG of Coxs Bazar Tourist Police Zone.
