A compartment of Dhaka-bound intercity Jamuna Express train derailed in Dhaka's Tejgaon on Wednesday morning.

The train coming from Jamalpur derailed around 8 am, confirmed Ferdous Ahmed Biswas, officer-in-charge of Dhaka Railway police station.

Meanwhile, the derailment of the train caused a heavy traffic jam in the scene, especially at Karwan Bazar railway crossing and Moghbazar. A freight train coming from the opposite direction is also reported to be stuck on the line.
However, no casualty was reported in the incident.

Trains of the route are currently running on a single track, the OC said.

'Rescue operation is currently underway. The route will be normal in a little while, he added.
