Dutch-Bangla JVC to invest $6.14 million in Cumilla EPZ

BSK Bangladesh Ltd., a Netherlands-Bangladesh joint venture company (JVC) is going to set up a bag manufacturing industry in Cumilla EPZ.

They will invest US$ 6.14 million to produce annually 3 million pcs of hand bag, backpack, travel bag, wallets and trolley bag. The company will create job opportunity for 1032 Bangladeshi Nationals.

In presence of BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, an agreement to this effect signed between Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) and BSK Bangladesh Ltd. at BEPZA Complex, Dhaka on Wednesday, says a press release.

Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA Mr. Ali Reza Mazid and Chairman of BSK Bangladesh Ltd. Jeroen Herms signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Welcoming BSK Bangladesh, Executive Chairman of BEPZA thanked them for choosing Cumilla EPZ as their investment destination. The Executive Chairman said that BEPZA is the pioneer Investment Promotion Agency of Bangladesh and has been successfully operating 8 EPZ with only 934 hectares of land.

From the tiny piece of land, the authority contributes around 20% of the countrys total export, he added. Executive Chairman of BEPZA urged the investors to start the construction of the factory as soon as possible. He also requested the investor to invite their Dutch friends to invest more in Bangladesh.

Member (Finance) Md. Ashraful Kabir, Executive Director (Admin) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md. Tanvir Hossain and Executive Director (Public Relations) A.S.M Anwar Parvez along with the First Secretary of Economic Affairs of Dutch Embassy Ms. Sara van Hoeve and Managing Director of BSK Bangladesh Md. Balal Hossain were present during the ceremony. Bi Shaokai (Sophie), the Chairman and Joris Guisado, Managing Director of BSK Fashion Development Co. Limited, a sister concern of BSK Bangladesh Ltd. were also present during this time.
