Livestock Services Week Begins In Districts

Creating market for dairy products stressed

Livestock Services Week-2024 and exhibition began in districts including Panchagarh and Pirojpur, on Thursday, with a view to creating market for dairy products and encouraging small farmers and entrepreneurs to produce more cattle.

This years theme of the Week is - "Pranisampade Bhorbo Desh, Gorbo Smart Bangladesh."

PANCHAGARH: The Livestock Services Week began and an exhibition was held on Panchagarh Sadar Upazila Livestock Hospital premises in the town.

Sadar Upazila Livestock Office and Hospital organized the programme under Livestock and Dairy Development Project to increase livestock production, create a market for dairy products, and encourage small farmers and entrepreneurs to produce cattle.

Rezia Islam, MP, from reserved constituency, inaugurated the Week and the exhibition by blowing colourful balloons as the chief guest.

According to the organizers, the exhibition showcases improved breeds and more productive breeds of livestock such as cows, calves, bulls, buffaloes, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, pigeons and other pets.
 
Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Maliha Khanam presided over the opening ceremony.

District Livestock Officer Dr Babul Hossain and District Veterinary Surgeon Dr Md Salim Uddin were present at the event as special guests.

Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Md Shahidul Islam delivered the welcome speech at the inaugural programme conducted by Veterinary Field Assistant Jharna Rani Roy.

Freedom Fighter Ismail Hossain, Kamat Kajal Dighi Union Parishad Chairman Tofail Pradhan and farmer Alamgir Hossain, among others, also spoke on the occasion.

About 40 farmers participated in the exhibition along with their cattle, ducks, chickens, pigeons and birds. At the end of the programme, the best farmers were given a check as reward.

PIROJPUR: The Week was inaugurated on the District Livestock Office premises in the town in the morning.  
District Livestock Office organized the programme.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Jahedur Rahman was present as the chief guest at the event.

Additional Superintendant of Police (Crime and Operation) Mukit Hasan Khan, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi officer Md Ariful Islam Mishu, District Livestock Officer Dr Md Rana Mia and Sadar Upazila Livestock Officer Dr Shuvhankar Dutta, among others, also attended the programme.
