Fugitive death-row convict arrested in Dhaka

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive convict, who was sentenced to death penalty in murder case, from Darus Salam area of Mirpur in the capital on Friday.
 

 RAB-2 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Shihab Karim on Saturday morning said the arrestee M Mamun, 29, son of M Alam of Bogura Sadar was convicted of an auto-rickshaw driver murder case in Bogura.

According to the case document, on April 9, 2018, the victim auto-rickshaw driver Saidul Islam went to Jaipurpara with a passenger from Dattabari in the evening and went missing. 
The next day, the locals found his body near the Eidgah ground in Dharampur Garerhat area of the Bogura, and informed the police.
 
Later, the victim's younger brother filed a murder case against three unidentified people with Bogura Sadar police station the next day.
 
After being behind the bars for five years, Mamun managed to secure bail and absconded.
 
Later, Bogura court sentenced him to death and fined Tk 50,000. The court also issued an arrest warrant against him.
