The government has reduced the cost of general hajj package compared to the previous year despite the high price of dollar, Religious Affairs Minister Md Faridul Haque Khan said.

The Hajj package under government management has been reduced by Tk 1,04,178, while the package under private management has been reduced by Tk 82,818.

The minister told this while inaugurating ‘Hajj Pilgrims Training 2024’ at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital on Saturday.
Faridul said that the government is working so that pilgrims can perform Hajj at a fair cost.

Additionally, efforts are on to ease the official procedures for pilgrims, with a commitment to provide best service to them.

On November 2, 2023, the government had announced two Hajj travel packages for 2024.
The general package will cost Tk 5,78,840 per person and the specialised one Tk 9,36,320 per person.

This year, 127,000 pilgrims from Bangladesh will be able to make the journey. Of them, 10,198 will be able to do so through a package trip offered by the government, while the rest will travel through private agencies.

Meanwhile, Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB) had announced a package for performing  hajj under private management next year fixing minimum cost at Tk 5,89,800.
