The panel backed by the Vice Chancellor swept the Jahangirnagar Universitys Senate and Syndicate elections in the college principal category.
The elections were held from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm at the senate hall of the university on Tuesday.
JU registrar and returning officer Md Abu Hasan announced the results on Tuesday night.
Quoting two Sections of the Jahangirnagar University Act 1973, Abu Hasan said, "The polls were held at the 138th academic council meeting to elect five college principals as senate members and two principals as syndicate members, under Section 19(1) (g) and Section 22(1) (d) of the act."
"Out of 346 members of the Academic Council, 286 members cast their vote to elect the 7 candidates among 16 college principals as Senate and Syndicate members," he said.
The new syndicate members, Dhaka College Principal Prof Mohammad Yusuf bagged 163 votes and Tejgaon College Principal Prof Md Harun-Ur-Rashid bagged 155 votes.
The new Senate members are - Rashidajoha Government Womens College Principal Prof Md Khademul Islam (161 votes), Government Michael Madhusudan College Principal Prof Morjina Akhtar (158 votes), Shaheed Bulbul Government College Principal Prof Md Bahej Uddin (151 votes), Ananda Mohan College Principal Prof Md Aman Ullah (148 votes), Begum Rokeya Government College Principal Prof Chinmay Barai (132 votes). This year, 16 candidates contested from two separate combined panels.
Bangabandhu Shikkhak Parishads panel backed by Vice Chancellor Prof Md Nurul Alam won all the posts. A group of pro-Awami League teachers, along with left-leaning and pro-BNP teachers, formed Shikkhak Oikya Parishad as an anti Vice Chancellor panel, but it did not win a single post.
The previous Senate and Syndicate elections in the college principal category were held in 2018.
