Special prayer for rain offered at Gobindaganj

GAIBANDHA, Apr 25: A special prayer (Salatul-Istisqa) for rain was offered on the ground of Gobindaganj Government College in the district on Thursday.

According to local sources, severe heatwave has been sweeping over all seven upazilas of the district and its neighboring areas for the last few days.

Due to heatwave, the normal life of people is being hampered seriously because the people cannot work in their respective fields.

Plants of Boro paddy fields are drying due to severe heat, making farmers more worried about their families food security.
Besides, many people, mostly aged and children, have been affected by heat-related diseases including diarrhoea.

Amid this situation, to get relief from the sufferings, people of Gobindaganj Upazila arranged the special prayer, seeking rain from Almighty Allah.

The Munajat was conducted by Maulana Abdus Salam Natori.

Similar prayer was also held on the ground of Islamia High School in the town in the morning.
 
Hundreds of people of the upazila participated in the prayer spontaneously.
