Frog marriage arranged for rain at Bagatipara

NATORE, Apr 25: People of Jamalpur area at Jamnagar Union in  Bagatipara Upazila of the district held a frog marriage on Tuesday for rain.

Children and adolescents of that area organized this extraordinary social event, seeking relief from the scorching heat.
 
The frog wedding was an enjoyable ceremony. To arrange the frog marriage, a little but an attractive stage was built; two frogs were seated on the place of bride and the bridegroom; people crowd around the stage and enjoy the function with joy; and at one stage, an appeal is made to Allah for rain.

Organising children and adolescents said, there is no water in crops fields; farmers are unhappy as their crops are set to get damaged due to want of water; the situation is very critical; that is why, they have arranged the frog marriage.

Shariful Islam, an inhabitant of the area, said, the condition of people is bad amid fierce heat; adequate water is not available; all  tube-wells fail to pump out water; cultivation is impossible; irrigation cost is increasing; mango buds and litchis are dropping; in this circumstance, local children and adolescents have arranged  the frog marriage; it is admirable.
 
After the end of the marriage function, a feast was arranged with the collected rice and pulse from local people, and everybody enjoyed it with pleasure.
