Teenager couple commit suicide in Gazipur

GAZIPUR, Apr 26:  Police recovered the bodies of a teenager and his wife from a flat in Sreepur upazila here on Friday. A note was also recovered from their table at that time.

The bodies were recovered in the morning from a flat on the ground floor of a multi-storied building of one Faruk Khan at Mulaid village.
The dead were Israfil, 17, son of Mofizul Haque, of Haldi village under Jhinaigati Police Station in Sherpur district, and Rokeya Khatun, 15, daughter of Abul Kashem, of Ishwarganj upazila in Mymensingh.

Mofizul Haque, father of the deceased Israfil, said, \Our flat is next to their flat. Family cooking is done in Israfils flat. In the morning, I found the door of Israfils flat open and went inside. Meanwhile, I saw Israfil hanging and Rokeyas body lying on the bed.\

Borhanuddin, brother of the deceased Rokeya, said, "The two had an affair and got married some 7 to 8 months ago without the permission of their families. Both of them used to live in a rented flat of that multi-storied building in that area.

 \Israfil worked in a local workshop and Rokeya in a factory. Their new family was doing well. Recently, Israfil quarrelled with his parents and left home with his wife. I got news of their death in the morning.\ Sreepur Police Station Inspector Sakhawat Hossain confirmed it.
