Heatwave breaks 75 years record

For 24 days since April 1, the country endured intense heatwave, setting an all time record, according to the Met Office.
Since 1948, the country endured record heatwave in this April, Weatherman Abul Kalam Mallik told reporters.

The Met Office predicted that heatwave will continue till the end April.
Severe and very severe heatwave occurred for seven consecutive days in the past, according to the Met Office.

This years severe and very severe heatwave already exceeded previous records.

The Met Office forecast that rains or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds are likely to occur at one or two places in Sylhet division with hailstorms at isolated places from 6:00pm on Friday.

The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country.

According to the Met Office, very severe heat wave was sweeping across Rajshahi, Chuadanga and Pabna districts and severe heat wave was sweeping across Tangail, Bogura, Bagerhat, Jashore and Kushtia on Friday while mild to moderate heat wave was sweeping in parts of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna and Rangpur, Mymensingh, Barishal divisions and Maulovibazar, Rangamati, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni and Bandarban.

Due to increase in moisture incursion, the discomforts may persist.

The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country.

The heat wave is likely to continue, predicted the Met Office.

About the temperatures on Saturday, the Met Office forecast that day temperatures may rise slightly and the night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country.

On Sunday, rains or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds are likely to occur at one or two places in Sylhet division with hailstorms at isolated places.

The weather is likely to remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country.

On Friday, the highest temperature of 42.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Chuadanga and the lowest temperature of 20.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Tetulia.

In Dhaka division, the highest temperature of  40.6 degree Celsius was recorded in Tangail and the lowest temperature of 26.7 degree Celsius was recorded in Faridpur.

Our correspondent from Lalmonirhat reported that newspaper vendor Rashedul Islam, 50, died of heatstroke in Kaliganj upazila.

Witnesses said, Rashed collapsed on the street  after having lunch at a  restaurant at Chamtarhat Bazar.
 
Neighbours said heatstroke might have been the cause of his death.

At least 30 people died of heatstroke since April 19.
