Prof Shibli Rubayat reappointed as BSEC chair

Professor Shibli Rubayat-Ul Islam has been reappointed as the chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for another four-year term.

A circular issued by finance ministry confirmed his appointment on Sunday. 

According to the circular, Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam has been reappointed as chairman as per the Section-5(6) of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993, for a four-year term commencing from May 17, 2024 or the date of assumption of duties.

Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam was appointed chairman of the BSEC on May 17, 2020. His tenure expires on May 16, this year.
Earlier, on April 4, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina consented to the ministry's recommendation for his reappointment.
