National Legal Aid Day Observed In Districts

Thrust on ensuring fundamental human rights, justice to all

National Legal Aid Services Day-2024 was observed on Sunday across the country with a view to ensuring the rule of law, fundamental human rights and justice to everyone.

According to Article 27 of the Constitution of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh, all are equal before the law, and all are entitled to equal protection of the law. In order to make this right a reality, the National Legal Aid Provision Act 2000 has been enacted.

This years theme of the Day is - "Smart Legal Aid, Smart Desh - Bangabandhur Bangladesh."

To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in districts including Jhenidah, Joypurhat, Khulna, Kishoreganj, Narayanganj, Netrakona, Pirojpur and Rangamati.

JHENIDAH: On this occasion, different programmes were organized in the district.

Jhenidah Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Rafiqul Islam and District Legal Aid Committee Chairman SM Saiful Islam inaugurated the Days programme by flying balloons and pigeons on the District Judge Court premises in the town in the morning.

After that, a rally was brought out from the Judge Court premises, and it ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the town.

Later on, a discussion meeting was held on the Judge Court premises.

District Legal Air Committee Chairman SM Saiful Islam and Superintend of Police (SP) Azimul Ahsan, among others, were also present at the discussion.

JOYPURHAT: In this connection, different programmes were organized in the district.

The Days programme was inaugurated on the District Judge Court premises in the morning by flying balloons and pigeons.

After the inauguration, a colourful rally was brought out from there, and it ended at the same venue after parading the main streets of the town.

Later on, a discussion meeting was held there.

Advocate Shamsul Alam Dudu, MP, from Joypurhat-1 Constituency, and member of Standing Committee on Ministry of Home Affairs, was present as the chief guest while Senior District and Sessions Judge and District Legal Aid Committee Chairman Md Nur Islam presided over the meeting.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Abdul Moktadir, Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Jahangir Alam, newly promoted SP KMA Mamun Khan Chishty, District Lawyers Association President Advocate Rafiqul Islam Tarun, its General Secretary (GS) Advocate Shahnur Rahman Shahin, and Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Nripendranath Mandal, among others, also spoke at the programme conducted by District Legal Aid Officer and Senior Assistant Judge Md Samiul Islam.
After the discussion, crests and certificates were given to Advocate Hasanuzzaman Nannu as the best panel lawyer for 2024, and Advocate Arafat Hossain Moon for human rights development.
Besides, a Legal Aid Fair, cultural function, tree plantation programme and blood donation camp were also arranged on the occasion.
KHULNA: To mark the Day, District National Legal Aid Services Organization organized different programmes in the city.
The programmes included bringing out a rally, holding discussion meeting and arranging Legal Aid Fair.
Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Talukder Abdul Khaleque inaugurated the programme on the District Judge Court premises in the city in the morning.
A colourful rally was brought out from the premises of the District Judge Court, and it ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the city. KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque addressed the rally as the chief guest.
Chairman of District National Aid Committee Mahmuda Khatun, Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Mozammel Haque, SP Sayedur Rahman, and President of Khulna Lawyers Association Advocate Saiful Islam, among others, were also present there.
After the rally, KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque inaugurated the Legal Aid Fair.
Later on, a discussion meeting was held on the District Judge Court premises.
KISOREGANJ: In this connection, different programmes were organized in the district.
A colourful rally was brought out from the District Judge Court premises in the morning, and it ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the town.
Acting District and Sessions Judge Md Jannatul Ferdous Ibne Haque led the rally.
Later on, a discussion meeting on the importance of Legal Aid to the people in general was held on the District Judge Court premises with Acting District and Sessions Judge Md Jannatul Ferdous Ibne Haque in the chair.
Additional District Judge Shammi Hasina Pervin, Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal- 1 Judge Md Habibullah, Chief Judicial Magistrate Al Mamun, DC Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, SP Mohammad Russell Shikh, Additional District Magistrate Kazi Mohua Momtaz, District Bar Association President Advocate Sahidul Alam Shahid, its General Secretary Advocate Aminul Islam Ratan, Government Pleader Bijoy Shankor Roy, PP Abu Naser Mohammad Faruq Sanju, and District Awami League (AL) GS Advocate MA Afzol, among others, also addressed the event.
Senior Assistant Judge and District Legal Aid Officer Nasima Talukder Munmun conducted the function.
After the discussion, the best panel lawyers were awarded.
NARAYANGANJ: To mark the Day, different programmes were organized in the district.
District Legal Aid Committee Chairman and Acting District and Sessions Judge Umme Saraban Tahura inaugurated the Days programme on the DC premises in the city in the morning by flying balloons and releasing pigeons. Then, a colourful rally was brought from there, and it ended at the same place after parading the main streets of the city.
Later on, a discussion meeting was held on the District Judge Court premises with District Legal Aid Committee Chairman and Acting District and Sessions Judge Umme Saraban Tahura in the chair.
Chairman of Narayanganj Labour Court Kiran Shankar Halder, Narayanganj DC Mohammad Mahmudul Haque, District Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdur Rahman, SP Golam Mostafa Russell, Superintend of Jail Mokammel Hossain, District Legal Aid Officer Assistant Jaudge Mukta Mandal, and District Lawyers Association President Advocate Mohsin Mia, among others, also spoke at the programme conducted by Joint District and Sessions Judge Sanjida Sarwar.
NETRAKONA: District Legal Aid Committee organized different programmes in the town on the occasion of the Day.
Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir inaugurated the Days programme on the District Judge Court premises in the town at around 9 am.  
A discussion meeting was held there with District Legal Aid Committee Chairman and Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir in the chair.

A colourful rally was brought out from Pirojpur Circuit House premises in the morning, and it ended on the premises of the Chief Judicial Magistrates Court after parading the main streets of the town.
After the rally, a discussion meeting was held there with Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Rafijul Islam.

RANGAMATI: On this occasion, District Legal Aid Committee organized different programmes in the town.
A discussion meeting was held in the conference room of District Judge Court in the town in the morning.
Senior District and Sessions Judge and District Legal Aid Committee Chairman Shahidul Islam presided over the meeting.
District Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge AEM Ismail Hossain, Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Abu Hanif, Additional District and Sessions Judge Tawhidul Haque, Additional DC Jobaida Akhter, ASP Maruf Hasan, and District BAR President and PP Md Rafiqul Islam, among others, were also present at the programme.  
Earlier, a colourful rally was brought out, which paraded the main streets of the town and ended on the District Judge Court premises.
