Hero Alam to contest Jhenaidah-1 by-polls

Ashraful Hossain Alam, known as Hero Alam, will contest the by-election to Jhenaidah-1 constituency scheduled to be held at June 5, which fell vacant after the death of Abdul Hyee.

The content creator Alam confirmed the matter over phone on Tuesday afternoon, adding that the voters of Jhenaidah-1 constituency will collect the nomination paper on his behalf.
"I did not want to participate but the people of this constituency requested me to contest. They also have assured me of their cooperation," he said.

He also said that he will contest in the election as an independent candidate as he has a lot of fans from the all parties of the country.

The Election Commission (EC) announced on Tuesday (April 23) that the by-polls will be held on June 5 .
 
The last date for the submission of nomination papers is May 7. They will be scrutinised two days later and candidates can pull out of the race by May 16.

The EC will allocate symbols on May 17 and balloting will be held using traditional ballot papers.
 
The content creator participated in the national parliament elections in Bogura-4 (Kahaloo-Nondigram) and Bogura-6 (Sadar) constituencies.

He also contested the by-election to Dhaka-17 constituency, which fell vacant after the death of actor Akbar Hossain Pathan (Farooque).
