Five killed in lightning in three districts

Five people have been killed in lightning in three districts of Chattogram division.

They were killed early Thursday (May 2) morning and in the afternoon. Of them, two died in Rangamati and two in Cox's Bazar, while one died in Khagrachhari.
Cox's Bazar: Two salt farmers were killed in lightning when they were working in a salt field at Pekua in Cox's Bazar district. They were Mohammad Didar, 26, and Arafat Hossain, 12. The lightning happened at Kodailadia under Ward No. 7 of Magnama union and Charipara area under Ward No. 7 in Rajakhali union early Thursday morning.

Decesaed Didar was the son of Jamir Uddin of the area. Besides, deceased Arafat, son of Jamal Hossain, hailed from Choripara under Ward No. 7 in Rajakhali union.

Magnama union parishad member Badiul Alam said norwesters and thunders began early Thursday morning. At that time, a lightning struck Didar in the salt cultivation field.

Rajakhali union parishad chairman Nazrul Islam Sikder Babul said Arafat was killed when a lightning struck him while he was accompanying his father.
