The five-match T20i series between hosts Bangladesh Mens Cricket team and visiting Zimbabwe is set to kick off today at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Despite missing key players Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, Bangladesh remains confident for a winning start.

The match will commence at 6:00 pm (BST).

Bangladesh will unveil a brand new T20i opening pair, with Tanzid Tamim set to receive a T20i cap to partner with Liton Das.

Skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah Riyad and Jaker Ali Anik form a solid middle order, while Mohammad Saifuddin is poised to make an international comeback as a pace bowling all-rounder. Shak Mahedi Hasan and Rishad Hossain will feature as spinning all-rounders, with Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam playing as specialist seamers.

Zimbabwe, led by Sikandar Raza, boast a strong side with players like Ryan Burl, Craig Ervine, Luke Jongwe, Wellington Masakadza, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Blessing Muzarabani, Richard Ngarava and Sean Williams. Former Zimbabwean opener Allister Campbells son, Johnathan Campbell, is likely to make his international debut today.

The two sides have faced each other in the format 20 times, with Bangladesh emerging victorious on 13 occasions against seven defeats. In Bangladesh, among the 11 encounters so far, the hosts have dominated with eight victories.

Zimbabwe lost their last two T20i series to Ireland and Sri Lanka earlier this year, while Bangladesh shared a series 1-1 against New Zealand, followed by a 2-1 series defeat at home against Sri Lanka. Zimbabwe recently faced tough times and failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup this year, suffering defeats against Uganda and Namibia. So, hosts are clearly favourites in the series starting today.

ZACS usually favours spinners and offers plenty of runs for batters. The weather forecast shows heavy downpour in Chattogram on Friday and considering the overcast conditions, the side winning the toss will likely prefer to bat first.
