The Met Office forecast on Thursday that the heatwave sweeping across Khulna, Rangpur, Rajshahi divisions and the western part of Dhaka division may continue for two days beginning at 6:00pm on the day.
"Due to increase in moisture incursion, discomforts may continue for people," it said.
However, the heatwave is likely to abate in some places on Friday, said Weatherman A K M Nazmul Hoque.
According to the Met Office, day and night temperatures are likely to fall by one to two degrees Celsius in the country today.
The Countrys highest temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jashore and Chuadanga on Thursday.
The lowest temperature of 19.7 degrees Celsius was recorded in Tetulia.
Dhaka city endured the highest temperature of 39.5 degrees Celsius.
The Met Office forecast that rains or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds are likely to occur at one or two places in Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with hailstorms at isolated places from 9:00am today.
The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country, said the Met Office.
On Thursday, very severe heatwave swept across the districts of Jashore, Khulna, Chuadanga, Pabna and Rajshahi and severe heat wave swept across the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalgonj and rest of Khulna division.
The rest of the country endured mild to moderate heatwave.
From 9:00am on Saturday, rains or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds are likely to occur at one or two places in Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with hailstorms at isolated places, the Met Office predicted.
The weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies elsewhere in the country.
The Met Office forecast that rains or thunder showers may spread across the country and day temperatures may fall further in next five days.

Mild to moderate heatwave occurred in different parts of the country from April 1 to April 19 and severe to very severe heatwave from April 20 to April 30.
