BANDARBAN, May 3: A court in Bandarban district on Friday sent 16 suspected female members of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) to jail today on completion of their two-day remand.
They were arrested earlier in connection with robbery at Sonali Bank branch in Ruma upazila, abduction of it manager, looting of arms of police and attacking a mosque.
Bandarbans Chief Judicial Magistrate Courts senior judicial magistrate court judge Mohammad Nazmul Hossain ordered to send them to jail on Friday afternoon.
Confirming the matter, court police Sub-Inspector Priel Palit said 16 female accused of Ruma Police Station case were produced before the court in the afternoon after their two-day remand was over. The court later ordered to send the accused to jail.
It may be mentioned that five cases were filed in connection with April 2 robbery at Sonali Bank branch in Ruma upazila, abduction of it manager, looting of arms of police and attacking a mosque.
Besides, four cases were filed in connection with the robbery at Sonali Bank and Krishi Bank at Thanchi in Bandarban in the afternoon of April 3. Then the joint forces launched a drive and 81 accused have so far been arrested in nine cases.
