CHUADANGA, May 4: Candidates in Damurhuda and Jibannagar Upazila Parishad (UZ) elections of the district are passing their busy time in moving from door to door, seeking votes.
They are addressing meeting and rallies in different important places and making manifolds pledges with voters to win their hearts.
According to the election schedule, the elections to Damurhuda and Jibannagar upazilas will be held on May 8 in the first phase.
Chairman candidates of Damurhuda Upazila are: Md Ali Munsur Babu ( Pineapple ), S A M Zakaria Alam ( Motorcycle) and Advocate Md Abu Taleb (Horse).
Woman vice-chairmen candidates are: Shahida Khatun (Jar) and Tania Khatun(Football).
In Jibannagar Upazila chairmen candidates are: Haji Hafijur Rahman (Cup) and S.K. Liton (Pineapple). Abdus Salam was elected Vice-Chairman unopposed.
Women vice-chairmen candidates are: Aysha Sultana Lucky (Jar)and Renuka Akter Rita (Swan).
" I shall cast my vote for honest and qualified candidates and who will work for the well being of common people in the upazila \ said Shahin Ali, a voter of Joyrampur Village in Damurhuda Upazila.
In Damurhuda Upazila, a total of 2,47, 822 voters and in Jibannagar Upazila, a total of 1,55,396 voters will cast their votes.
\Necessary steps have been taken for holding free, fair and credible election in the upazilas, said Motawakkil Rahman, district election officer.
