Director General (DG) of United Nations International Organization of Migration (IOM) Amy Pope is visiting Dhaka today (Sunday).
According to the sources associated with the Ministry of Foreign affairs, the IOM Director General will visit Bangladesh from May 5-9. Amy will begin her tour by visiting a Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.
It is known that the heads of various United Nations organizations will visit Dhaka on the occasion of 50 years of relations. The visit begins with IOM Director General Amy Pope.
According to diplomatic sources, Natalia Kanem, Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), will visit Dhaka in the middle of this month. Apart from this, Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary General of International Maritime Organization (IMO) is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at the end of this month.
During the visit to Dhaka, IOM Director General will make courtesy calls on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud. She will also hold a meeting with Expatriate Welfare and Foreign Employment Minister Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury.
