A total of 15 people died due to heatstroke across the country in the last 14 days, and three of them died in the 24 hours till 11am on Monday.
Of the deceased, thirteen were male and two were female, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the DGHS confirmed the development on Monday.
The highest number of deaths due to heatstroke has been reported in Magura with seven deaths. Apart from that, fatalities were reported in Chattogram, Khulna, Chuadanga, Habiganj, Rajbari, Jhenaidah, Lalmonirhat, Bandarban, and Madaripur.
The data showed that, so far, 34 people have suffered due to heatstroke throughout the country.
This is the first time the DGHS is releasing data on heatstroke, it said.
The actual number of people dying of heat-related illness could be higher as the DGHS started keeping records from April 22, twenty days after the ongoing heatwave began searing the country.
Besides, the DGHS surveillance does not cover private healthcare facilities, which outnumber government ones, the release added.
