RU student dies from snakebite

A student of Rajshahi University (RU) died after being bitten by a highly venomous Russell's viper snake in Rajshahi city on Tuesday.

The deceased  Shakinur Rahman Sabbir was a student of the 2016-17 academic year of Psychology Department of the university and hailed from Charghat upazila of the district.
According to the deceased friends, the snake, Russell's viper or Chandrabora in Bengali vernacular, bit Sabbir while he was hanging out with his friends on the bank of Padma River adjacent to Moktar Bazar area on Sunday evening.

He was rescued and taken to the Intensive Care Unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he died on Monday evening.

Dr Enamul Haque, a professor of the Psychology Department of the university, confirmed the matter.
