3-day US Tradeshow Kicks off in city tomorrow

A three day US tradeshow kicks off tomorrow (Thursday) in the citys Intercontinental Hotel to showcase US products and services.

A press briefing was held in the city on Tuesday organized by American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), Bangladesh as it is hosting the tradeshow in cooperation with the US Embassy in Dhaka.

Syed Ershad Ahmed, President of the AmCham, John Fay, Commercial Counselor, Foreign Commercial Service, US Department of Commerce in Dhaka, Amcham Executive Director, Shahadat Hossain and other executive committee members were present in the briefing.

Shahadat Hossain said, "We are going to showcase best quality US products. For the first time there will be seven new companies to be participating in the 29th US Trade Show.

The AmCham president said the show is scheduled to be inaugurated on May 9 by Salman Fazlur Rahman, Prime Minister adviser on private industry and investment as chief guest. Ahasanul Islam Titu, state minister for commerce and Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology are scheduled to attend as special guests.

The three-day trade show will take place from May 9 to May 11 to facilitate showcasing of diverse products and services.

There will also be five individual seminars on US education opportunities, business visas, US role in Bangladeshs development, digital financing solutions and empowering business women in the sideline of the fair.

The AmCham President Syed Ershad Ahmed said this years tradeshow would be showing a bustling hub of activity. Dozens of US companies will showcase a wide range of products, attracting Bangladeshi businesses eager to explore new partnerships.

High-level delegates are likely to underscore the importance of the three-daylong exhibition and to make a seamless economic connection, he said. Ahmed emphasized strong business ties between the two countries have picked up starting from 1992.

The US Embassy in Dhaka and American-Bangladesh Economic Forum (ABEF) in conjunction with US business community in Bangladesh held the first trade show entitled-United States Business in Bangladesh in that year to set a new trend of showcasing their business growth.

John Fay said Bangladesh needs to improve its business climate to attract more foreign investments. He said US being the largest country investor in Bangladesh intends to build a good partnership in bilateral trade with Bangladesh.
