NATORE, May 7: About eight hundred marginal farmers in Sadar Upazila of the district got agriculture incentives, such as seeds, and chemical fertiliser free of cost in recent times.
The incentives were given to farmers at a distribution function held in the upazila auditorium.
A discussion meeting was arranged with Upazila Nirbahi Officer Akhter Jahan Sathi in the chair.
Local MP M Shafiqul Islam Shimul joined the function virtually as the chief guest.
MP said, the country became self-sufficient with many food stuffs only for governments effective steps; for this, the government kept all kinds of agriculture supports to the farmers unhindered.
The condition of agriculture of the country will be smart in future; and enrichments must come with this, he added.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Nilima Jahan said, earlier five kilogram (KG) seeds and 10 kg DAP and MoP fertiliser were given to selected farmers of seven upazilas and one pourashava against cultivating one bigha of land in order to increase production of Aush paddy and onion in the upazila.
