Three upazilas in Gopalganj get 3 chairmen

The first phase of the sixth upazila parishad election was held in three upazilas, out of five, in Gopalganj district on Wednesday (May 9).

Among these upazilas, Bimal Krishna Biswas has been elected as chairman of Kotalipara upazila with 40,271 votes, while his nearest rival candidate Mujibur Rahman Hawladar secured 39,282 votes with shrimp symbol. 

In Tungipara upazila, Md Babul Sheikh has been elected by securing 40,792 votes, whereas his nearest candidate Gazi Masudul Haq Masud got 19,951 votes. 

Meanwhile, Md Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan has been elected as chairman of Gopalganj Sadar upazila. He got 31,354 votes with ‘Telephone symbol’ while his nearest rival Liakat Ali Bhuiyan got 29,864 votes.
