Film producer Masudul Mahmud Ruhan reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at a mess house in East Rayerbazar area of the capital on Wednesday night.
Shaon Kumar Biswas, sub-inspector (SI) of Hazaribagh Police Station, said on information police recovered the body of the 27-year-old Ruhan and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
He said when his roommate came back to the mess around 11:00pm on Wednesday he found Ruhans body hanging from the ceiling fan and informed the police.
The police official said Ruhan had recently undergone a divorce from his wife a month ago and started living in that East Rayerbazar mess house as he frequently used to travel due to his profession.
SI Shaon said Ruhan might have committed suicide due to depression stemming from his marital separation and other familial issues. However, the exact cause of his death will be confirmed pending the autopsy report.

Their successful collaboration brought a number of well-received web series, including Ararat, Champa House, Shuklapakkha, The Silence, and Punorjonmo, the duos most popular fiction work.
