Budget for FY25 to be placed at JS on June 6

The national budget for fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25) is likely to be placed in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on June 6.
 
"The national budget for FY25 will be placed in Jatiya Sangsad on June 6, 2024. Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali will unveil the budget in the JS on that day. The ministry has already distributed responsibilities among the officials concerned in this regard," a senior official of the ministry confirmed BSS on Thursday.

The size of the next budget is expected to be around Tk 8.0 lakh crore, said the official, adding that controlling the rising inflation is likely to get the highest priority in the budget.
The budget for FY25 will be the countrys 53rd budget and the 25th of the Awami League government in 6th terms.  
Tajuddin Ahmed presented the countrys first budget as finance minister of the post-independence Bangabandhu government in 1972. The size of the countrys first budget was Tk 7.86 billion and ADP size was Tk 5.01 billion.    —BSS
