The namaj-e-janaza of Haidar Akbar Khan Rono, Adviser to the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), will be held on Monday.
After the namaj-e-janaza, he will be buried beside his parents' graves at Banani Graveyard in the city.
It is learnt that the body of renowned leftist leader will be taken to the CPB central office at Purana Paltan at 10:00am on Monday. From there, his body will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar at 11:00 am for people of all walks of life to pay their last respect to him. Then his namaj-e-janaza will be held at 1:30pm at the Dhaka University Central Mosque premises. After the namaj-e-janaza, his body will be taken to the Banani graveyard for burial.
A CPB souce said Haider Akbar Khan Rono's body was taken to his Dhanmondi residence. From there, the body was taken to Samarita Hospital's morgue. The body will be kept there until the arrival of his daughter and grand-children from abroad. Then his body will be buried beside his parents' graves at Banani in the capital
Haider Akbar Khan Rono breathed his last after 2:00am on Saturday while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka. He was 82.
He had been suffering from chronic lung disease. He felt sick at his home on Friday evening was admitted to Health and Hope Hospital with acute respiratory disease (Type-2 respiratory failure) where he died.
Rono was born on August 31, 1942, in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British India (now Kolkata).
He was the general secretary of the then East Pakistan Chhatra Union.
Rono left the Workers Party of Bangladesh in 2010 and joined the CPB due to differences of opinion.
He was made a presidium member of the party in 2012 and then became an adviser to the CPB.
