Our agriculture needs to adapt to climate change

Due to the increase in carbon emissions in the air, the elevation of the earth is increasing, and the amount of ice melting in the ice-covered regions is increasing. The sea level is increasing, and the risk of climate change is also increasing. As a result, there is a negative impact on the environment, and nature, permanently and temporarily in the whole world including Bangladesh. Bangladesh is the most affected country due to climate change in the world. But Bangladesh is not at all responsible for climate change. Rather, Bangladesh is suffering more. According to the report published by the international research organization German Watch in 2010, Bangladesh is in the first row among the 10 countries affected by climate change. Also, according to the list published by the British research organization Maple craft, Bangladesh ranks first among the 15 countries at risk due to natural disasters.

It is unfortunate but true that Bangladesh is a country affected by climate change, but those responsible for climate change are not paying compensation for it. Therefore, Bangladesh has to adopt and implement an action plan to get rid of climate risks with its own funding. The people of the country are getting the benefit of the action plan adopted by Bangladesh. Again, Bangladesh has already become a role model in the world in mitigating climate risks.

Bangladesh is suffering more mainly due to the increase in global temperature. The sea level is rising continuously. On the other hand, the flow of melting ice in the Himalayas, including Antarctica, is causing massive floods and changes in the direction of rivers. Adding to this is the erosion of rivers. Along with this, the salinity of the seawater is also increasing. Due to this, the people of the sea coast of the country are suffering from various diseases due to the lack of clean drinking water.

In this regard, world-renowned desert researchers have been warning Bangladesh again and again. Bangladesh National Environment Management Action Plan has identified these problems as long-term problems.

In addition to winter-summer-monsoon, Bangladesh is known as a vulnerable area for natural disasters such as floods, cyclones, floods, tornadoes, floods, landslides etc. Due to the effect of climate change, the seasonal cycle of Bangladesh is being manipulated as well as natural disasters. In other words, the usual picture of natural disasters is no longer visible to us.

Its main cause is temperature change or global warming; As a result of this, climate change is happening in the country through wind flow, rainfall, sea level rise, desertification, etc., the change is in our familiar six seasons. Although Bangladesh is described as a country of six seasons or six seasons in the literature, the actual six seasons are not observed. During the rainy season there is less or no rain, other times there is a bomb or heavy rain, and there is a flood. On the other hand, the water flow of rivers is drying up due to a decrease in rainfall. The course of the river is changing, the river is breaking.

Experts are of the opinion that due to low rainfall in Bangladesh, the problem of salinity in sub-tropical areas is becoming more pronounced day by day. Meanwhile, the Sundarbans are being severely damaged due to the rise in sea level and salinity. Dying the tip disease has occurred in various trees, especially the bine and beautiful trees. There are also different types of insects that eat different types of leaves and flowers.

According to climate experts, the ecosystem is directly related to global warming or climate change. Therefore, if the climate of a region of the country changes, the lifestyle of animals or insects in that region also changes, and the survival of animals also falls into crisis. It also happens that the fauna of those regions become extinct and new fauna is created. Basically, this is how different species of insects appear and the former species disappear due to the influence of the climate of that region.

Climate change is having an adverse effect on agriculture in agriculture-dependent Bangladesh. As a result, agriculture has to face many challenges. At the same time, it has an adverse effect on agriculture, cultivation, and production systems. Moreover, the production of many species of crops is decreasing due to excessive rainfall, lack of rain, drought, and increasing temperature. Again, the attack of weeds, weeds, diseases, and insect spiders is increasing. Soil quality and composition also varies from region to region of the country. As a result, expected crop production is disrupted. Eri-boro production requires a lot of irrigation water. Due to salinity in the lands of the southern part of the country, there are problems in irrigation and agriculture. Again due to an increase in salinity, shrimp farming has also collapsed.

In this situation, our own resources are to deal with the risks of climate change and get rid of its adverse effects. Through continuous research with talent, experience, and ability, build the path of self-improvement, and find the right path. At the same time, it is important to prevent river pollution, and encroachment and restore navigability. Apart from this, afforestation should be created in vacant areas all over the country and uncultivated and fallow land should be brought under rapid cultivation. Importance should be given to renewable energy. We should also refrain from activities that cause environmental pollution or air pollution. At the same time, we have to present our request with documents to the countries that emit excessive carbon and industrially developed countries.

If these things are done, it is not possible to prevent climate change overnight, but there is a possibility of getting some relief. In addition to massive changes in our life system, which has been affected by the severe impact of climate, there has also been a change in agriculture and the natural environment. In this changing and changing situation, we need to increase public awareness to protect our agriculture, environment, environment, and nature, on the other hand, agricultural research is needed to adapt to climate change. It is expected that the government will give importance to this issue and focus on agricultural production and application of technology in agriculture and the production and marketing of fruit crops based on region.
