Ex-BNP MP Gias sent to jail on surrender

A Dhaka court on Sunday sent former BNP lawmaker Mohammad Gias Uddin to jail in a case filed over amassing Tk 1.41 crore of illegal wealth.

Judge Mohammad Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court passed the order after the former lawmaker surrendered before it and sought bail.

As per High court directive, the former lawmaker of BNP from Narayanganj-4 constituency, Mohammad Gias Uddin surrendered   before the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge on Sunday.  He was elected MP from Narayanganj-4 constituency in the eighth National parliament election with BNPs ticket.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Jahangir Alam filed the case for amassing wealth of Tk 1.41 crore beyond known source of income on December 19 in  2021 . The anti-graft body later filed charge-sheet against him.
