Dhaka Abahani and Bashundhara Kings are engaging in the second semi-final match of the Federation Cup today (Tuesday) at 3:00 pm in Gopalganj and whoever wins the match will meet Mohammedan Sporting Club in the final.

Earlier, Mohammedan Sporting Club secured the final of Federation Cup Football for the 17th time on 7 May as the boys in the traditional black and white outfits outplayed Bangladesh Police boys in a 2-1 match in the first semi-final match in Munshiganj.

Now is the chance for Dhaka Abahani and Bashundhara Kings to claim the other side in the rivalry to win the champions trophy of the Federation Cup 2023-24.

If wins the match, it will be the 22nd final for Dhaka Abahani in the Federation Cup or the fourth for Bashundhara Kings. If Abahani wins it, the fans will be able to enjoy another Dhaka Derby. Otherwise, fans are still going to witness an exciting match.

Previously, the black and white battalion had come to play the final of the event 16 times and the sky-blue battalion 21 times. However, the 1984 final between Mohammedan and Abahani was abandoned before even kicking off due to a riot.

So far, Dhaka Abahani is the highest-achieving team in the Federation Cup with 12 champions trophies and eight runner-up trophies.

Mohammedan is the second highest-achieving team in the tournament by winning the champions trophy 11 times and the runner-up trophy four times. Bashundhara got two champion trophies and a runner-up trophy.

There was doubt whether the 1984 finalists, Abahani and Mohammedan, were announced joint champions.

The final of the tournament is scheduled to be played on 21 May at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.
