Two examinees of Jhenidah and Noakhali districts allegedly committed suicide on Sunday after failing in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations.
NOAKHALI: A girl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Sadar Upazila of the district on Sunday.
Deceased Tanjina Akter Jhumi, 16, was the daughter of Md Abdul Karim of Sallya Ghtaiya Village under Noakhali Municipality. She participated in the SSC examinations from Kalitara Muslim Girl Academy in the district town this year.
It was known that at around 11 am on Sunday, she came to know that she failed in Mathematics. After hearing the result, she hanged herself from the ceiling of her room in the house while her parents were busy in work.
Later on, hearing screams of the deceaseds mother, locals rushed there and informed police.
On information, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceaseds family members upon their request.
JHENIDAH: Another SSC examinee reportedly committed suicide in Harinakundu Upazila of the district on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Nupur Khatun, 15, daughter of Asadul Islam Mondal, a resident of Binni Village under the upazila.
It was known that Nupur appeared in the SSC examinations from Durlabhpur High School this year. She locked herself in her room after hearing the result at noon. Later on, she hanged herself with a scarf from the ceiling of the room.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene.
