Elderly man crushed under train in Jhenidah

An elderly man was killed after being crushed under the wheels of a train at Kaliganj upazila in Jhenidah district on Tuesday noon.

The accident took place around 12pm at Chachra Railgate area under the upazila.
However, the identities of the deceased, aged around 65, could not be known immediately.

Quoting locals, police said the man deceased was sitting on the railway track when a mail train from Khulna ran over him, leaving his head severed from the body. He died on the spot.

Confirming the matter, Kaliganj Police Station officer-in-charge Abu Ajif said being informed, fire service personnel recovered the body and handed it over to the police.

Efforts are on to find out the identities of the deceased, added the OC.
