'No plan to run metro rail on Fridays'

Refuting media reports, the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) on Tuesday explained that there was no plan to operate the metro rail on Fridays.

Earlier on the day, different media published reports stating that the metro rail service would be launched on Fridays from the next month.
"We have no plans to offer metro rail services on Fridays. We haven't had any discussions on this particular issue yet," DMTCL managing director MAN Siddique said.

He said the ongoing construction work of the MRT Line-6 extension from Motijheel to Kamalapur requires a dedicated day-off to ensure proper progress.

Metro rail currently runs six days a week with a weekly holiday on Fridays.
