UGC for quality higher education to reduce foreign dependency

The University Grant Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) has urged the countrys higher educational institution to focus on quality education to reduce foreign dependency by achieving self-reliance in various fields.

"Foreign dependency should be reduced by achieving self-reliance in various fields to build a developed Bangladesh. And thus, higher educational institutions must ensure quality education through adopting updated curriculum to cope with the contemporary challenges," said UGC Chairman (Additional Charge) Prof Dr Muhammad Alamgir.

He said while addressing as the chief guest at a workshop on Monitoring and evidence management of Annual Performance Agreement for FY 2023-2024 and reviewing and providing feedback on the draft action plan for the FY 2024-2025" at the meeting room of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on Tuesday.

Advising students to increase their abilities and skills, Dr Alamgir suggested improving the quality of higher education including making the graduates suitable and capable for the global labour market.    —BSS
