AL leader dies after litchi seed stuck in throat in Manikganj

A local Awami League leader reportedly died after a litchi seed stuck in his throat in in Manikganj's Ghior upazila on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the afternoon at Kalia village under Baratia union of the upazila.
The dead Abdul Majid Mia, 65, a resident of that village, was a ex vice president of Baratia Awami League.

Baratia UP Chairman Samsul Haque Molla Roshan said Abdul Majid Mia was eating litchi at his home. At that time, a litchi seed suddenly stuck in his throat. Later, family members quickly brought him to Ghior Upazila Health Complex where the doctor declared him dead. He was ill for a long time.

Ghior police station OC Sukumar Biswas confirmed it.
