45 BNP leaders served show cause notices for contesting upazila polls

BNP has given show cause notices to 45 grassroots leaders leaders for participating in the third phase of Upazila Parishad election for the post chairman and vice chairman.

They were sent to notice for violating the party decision and asked for an explanation within 48 hours.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Wednesday, "Of the last 45 persons who were given show cause notices, three-four of them responded to the notice saying that they would withdraw from the polls."
He also pointed out that those who remain in the election even after receiving the show cause notice, will be expelled from the party as in the previous two phases.

Total 80 leaders have been expelled from the party for taking part in the first phase of polls, while 61 were expelled in the second phase.
