A special mango train on Chapainawabganj-Dhaka route will star operation from June 1 like the previous year.
The decision was taken at a meeting at the DC office in Rajshahi on Thursday with deputy commissioner AKM Galiv Khan in the chair.
The local administration of Chapainawabganj district has yet to fix the schedule for mango harvesting and marketing.
The DC said stern action will be taken against those involved in harvesting immature mango, using chemical for ripening mango. He said mobile court will be conducted to monitor the mango market to ensure supply of safe and poison-free mango.
Meanwhile, this year, a total of 37,604 hectares of land have been brought under mango cultivation with a production target of 4.50 lakh metric tonnes in the district.
Additional deputy commissioner Ahmed Mahbub-ul-Islam, additional deputy director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Chapainawabganj district Dr Palash Sarkar were present in the meeting, among others.
