Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has welcomed over 1,300 new students during its Orientation Summer 2024 programme for undergraduate admissions.
The programme organised by IUB's Admission and Financial Aid office was held at the university auditorium in the capital on Thursday.
Eminent writer Anisul Hoque joined the occasion as the chief guest while the university vice-chancellor Tanweer Hasan was in the chair. Pro-vice-chancellor, Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan addressed the gathering.
More than 45 percent of the new intake was female. The demographics of the new students show that 27 percent came from outside Dhaka while 73 percent were from the city.
With the new intake, IUB's overall student body now exceeds 10,000 students, maintaining a balanced gender ratio with 45 percent female students.
During the programme, top scorers from the admission test merit list were recognised.
