Four ‘commit suicide’ in three districts

Four people including a schoolgirl allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in three districts - Thakurgaon and Dinajpur, on Tuesday.

GOPALGANJ: Two students were committed suicide reportedly after being jilted in their relationships in Kotalipara Upazila of the district in two days.

The decease were identified as Pallab Baroi, 22, son of Ganesh Baroi, a resident of Shikir Bazar Village, and Ashru Bishwas, 24, son of Ashutosh Bishwas of Chitkibari Village under the upazila. Pallab was honours first year student of Banghbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman College and his friend Ashru was a student of a private university in Dhaka.

According to police and local sources, Ashru became drug addict and was depressed after his girlfriend got married with someone else. In a sequel to it, he was putting pressure to his parents to get married. When the parents denied, he hanged himself from the ceiling of his room in the house on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, the deceaseds friend Pallab Baroi was going through a difficult time as his girlfriend got separated from him recently. After attending the funeral of his friend Ashru, Pallab also became upset and hanged himself from a branch of a tree at early hours on Tuesday.

Being informed, police recovered the bodies.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) (Investigation) of Kotalipara Police Station (PS) Foyej Ahmmed confirmed the incident, adding that the actual reason behind the deaths of the youths would be known after investigation.

THAKURGAON: A young man reportedly committed suicide in Ranisankail Upazila of the district on Saturday noon.

The deceased was identified as Sakin Ram, 26, son of Manglu Ram, a resident of Raghabpur area under Ratore Union in the upazila.

Police and local sources said Sakin Ram hanged himself from a branch of a tree at a mango orchard behind Mirdangi High School in Nanduar Union at noon. Before hanging self, he also consumed poison as the smell came out from his mouth when the body was found by the locals.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Thakurgaon Sadar Adhunik Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

However, the reason behind his committing suicide could not be known immediately.

Ranisankail PS OC Sohel Rana confirmed the incident, adding that legal action would be taken in this regard.

PARBATIPUR, DINAJPUR: A schoolgirl reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Parbatipur Upazila of the district on Saturday noon.

Deceased Mariam Akhter, 10, was the daughter of Md Mohibul Islam of Chandipur Village in the upazila.

It was known that Mariams father scolded her over going to school in the morning. Following this, Mariam hanged herself from the ceiling of her room in the house at noon out of huff with her parents.

Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene at around 2 pm and sent it to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Parbatipur Model PS OC Chitta Ranjan Roy confirmed the incident, adding that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
