20 injured in Jhenidah clash

JHENIDAH, May 19: At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two groups in Harinakundu Upazila of the district on Saturday over establishing supremacy.

The incident took place in Bhaturia Village of the upazila in the morning.
Police and local sources said followers of incumbent union parishad member Korban Ali and former member Moshiur Rahman were locked in a clash with lethal weapons over establishing supremacy in the village, which left at least 20 people from both sides injured.

The injured were later rescued and taken to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital. On information, police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control.

The law enforcers, however, arrested five people in connection with the clash.

Officer-in-Charge of Harinakundu Police Station Ziaur Rahman confirmed the incident.
