Woman held with 2.7-kg Opium in Bandarban

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a woman along with 2.7 kilograms of Opium worth Tk 2 crore 70 lakh from Bandarban Sadar upazila on Monday afternoon.

The arrested are May Pru Ching, 45, a resident of Madhyam Para area under Bandarban municipality.
RAB-15 officials confirmed the information on Monday evening.

"Tipped-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid at Madhyampara area of the district town and arrested the woman while trying to escape from the scene," they said.

Later, the elite force seized total of 2.7 kilograms of Opium, worth Tk 2 crore 70 lakh, from a bag of her, they said.

The legal actions will be taken against her, added the RAB source.
