The High Court has ordered to investigate the allegation of corruption and irregularities during the admission of 169 students of class 1 at Vikarunnisa Noon School and College in the capital.
At the same time, the court ordered to cancel the admission of those 169 students and admit students from the waiting list.
The HC bench comprising Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Raziq Al Jalil passed the order on Tuesday along with the ruling issued in this regard.
The court also formed a committee headed by
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Education to investigate the corruption and irregularities during the admission.
The committee was asked to keep a representative of the Dhaka Education Board chairman and an Information Technology (IT) expert from Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET).
In the judgment, the court said the parents can not escape responsibility for the situation that arose with the admission of 169 students.
Mothers of two admission seekers filed the writ on January 14, due to non-compliance with the enrolment regulations. The High Court on January 23 issued a rule after holding primary hearing on the writ. Following the order, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) authorities submitted a report, accepting the allegation.
The school authorities after that decided to cancel the admission of those 169 students. The High Court on March 6 passed an order, asking authorities to fill the vacant seats within seven days from the waiting list, making parents of a student, whose admission was cancelled, to file an appeal with the apex court.
