Farmers playing major role to meet countrys food demands: PKSF MD

Dr Nomita Halder, managing director (MD) of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), said development of farmers will increase food production which can play a major role in building smart Bangladesh through increasing.

"The role of farmers including the marginal ones in building smart Bangladesh is vital. The current government is sincerely working for the development of agriculture sector," she also said.

Dr Nomita Halder, also former private secretary to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, came up with the remarks while visiting different employment generation and sustainable agricultural development activities of non-government development organization UNNAYAN in Terokhada of Khulna.

During the visit, she also witnessed Village Committee (PVC), Mother and Child Forum, different IGAs by using local resources, adolescent club and nutrition fair under PPEPP-EU project supported by the PKSF and implemented by the UNNAYAN, according to a press release.

The former secretary Dr Nomita Halder talked to different beneficiaries of the project cordially and enquired their condition. SM Mostafizur Rahman, executive director of the UNNAYAN, accompanied her during the visit.

Later on, the PKSF MD also attended a consultation meeting with officials of the UNNAYAN at Azogara project office. SM Mostafizur Rahman chaired the event.

Speaking as the chief guest at the meeting, Dr Nomita Halder expressed her satisfaction with activities done by UNNAYAN while she suggested to intensify, accelerate and extend the activities in align with adapting new dimension and technology for the future.
